The Problem
A burst hot water cylinder flooded the hallway and living room of a historic villa in Mt Eden. The water saturated the plush carpet, the thick foam underlay, and pooled against the original native timber floorboards underneath.
Our Process
We responded within 60 minutes. We immediately extracted the standing water using heavy-duty sub-surface extraction claws. We applied a botanical anti-microbial agent to prevent mold. We then floated the carpet (blowing air underneath it) and installed commercial dehumidifiers to pull the moisture out of the air and the timber subfloor over a period of three days.
The Result
By acting quickly, we saved the carpet and the expensive underlay from needing replacement. The native timber floors were prevented from warping, and the house was certified dry and mold-free.
